Long and short of it, probably an ok deal if you needed money asap, but they offered me less for my car than I've been offered on trades from a normal dealer. They'd turn around and list my car for ~$7k more so I think it's kind of a rip off. Took about 30 minutes, as they weren't busy at all. Everyone was super nice and respectful. I was always curious about their processes, any questions?

I like the way the do business generally and have been pretty pleased with my visits. Right up until the point they lowball me on the trade. If I had a dollar for every other dealer that said "have you tried Carmax?" whey they, themselves, lowball me on the trade, I would be rich. They have this mystique of offering more, but in my experience, they don't.

I had a 2011 California Special. Fantastic car.

I noticed it says "sports car season coming to an end", don't we still have july, aug, sept?

Or perhaps from a sales perspective it's coming to an end?

From a sales perspective, yes. You want to be very, very careful when putting sports cars on the lot any later than early July- because if you can't retail it in two and a half months, it'll be heading to the auction as the leaves are changing and you'll lose your ass on it. So there's your options- price it cheap for a quick but low-profit sale, or prepare for the bottom to fall out of the market when you need to be rid of it.

That said, I think CarMax's number is at least $3-4000 low, and that's coming from a region where it snows 7 months a year and rains 4 days a week when it's not snowing. Surprising how I always hear about how amazing their trade offers are.

what did you do with your 2011? I'm between trading this on a chebby or getting a 2015 gt.

Yea, seems low to me. Here's a '12 local to me with a little less miles for $29k.
